Jose Arana

Originally from Mexico City Jose’s love for boats developed at a very young age. Jose grew up around sailing and power boats throughout his childhood and as long as he can remember. Yachting has always been his father’s passion and he is lucky enough to have traveled different parts of the world by boat. Jose has been working closely with his father in developing a solid clientele with the Latin American and European Markets for many years. It is clear to say that the father and son team have become specialists and big players in this area of the business.

Jose started working in yachts with Ferretti of America back in 1997. As a member of the Latin American group he was involved in research and relationship management of high clientele and potential leads for future sales.

“Personalized attention and superior customer service” is key in this business Jose says. “You cannot sell a million+ Dollar yacht to a client and forget about him.” This is about long-term relationships and word of mouth referrals, the yachting community is very small…. reputation for honesty, integrity, ingenuity and persistence is a must.”

Jose also worked in the marketing division of important fortune 500 companies like Microsoft, Ericsson and Bell South. After a few years he decided to leave the corporate world and concentrate full time on yachts and join his father in the business formally as a full time yacht broker.

He joined Koch Newton & Partners in 2004 where he and his father concentrated in strengthening the Latin American Market and also in exploring new business development opportunities such as event sponsorship and new marketing/advertising venues.

In 2006 Koch Newton & Partners was acquired by Merrill-Stevens Yachts and the father and son team are still on board to continue on working diligently in growing the markets in Latin America and Europe. After 2 years of developing the brokerage division for Merrill-Stevens in 2008 the operation unfortunately closed its doors.

In 2008 Jose joined Fraser Yachts, which is the largest provider of services for Megayachts worldwide. Through the dedication of its members Fraser Yachts has excelled in the yachting industry for over 60 years. Jose developed the Latin America markets and supported the opening of the office in Mexico City. Jose stayed with Fraser Yachts until 2014, which is the year he founder 1 OCEAN YACHTS.

1 OCEAN YACHTS is a boutique Yacht brokerage and Services Company conceived in 2013 that applies a 1 Client Focus Approach in order to provide first class service to its clients all over the world. 1 OCEAN YACHTS is opening a new office in Miami Beach at the Bentley Bay and also managing the new marina opening at the Bentley Bay this summer of 2017.

Jose holds as BA from Lynn University and International Business Major from Boston University. He speaks fluent English, Spanish and has conversational abilities in Italian.
